troopers say it happened while the man walked on highway 218, just south of interstate 80, around 9 last night. all three vehicles were driving north. investigators have not released the name of the person killed, pending the notification of family. they have also not said why the man was walking on the busy highway. none of the drivers sustained injuries. in cedar falls, this man is charged with operating while intoxicated after police say he hit a pedestrian. this is the first offense for mc cedar falls police say kelly struck 24 year old tristin selby just before 2 saturday morning. it happened in the area of highway 57 and roosevelt street. selby is in critical condition at the university of iowa hospitals and clinics. right now iowa city police are looking for a man who cut someone with a large knife. a man told officers someone approached him and his friends near iowa avenue and dodge street around 2:30 yesterday morning.

things are getting back to normal for people after flooding. that includes sandbag drop off sites as well as the return of normal services. that includes the linn county-cedar rapids solid waste agency. garbage and recycling collections are back to normal today for people who were inside that flood evacuation zone. people who live there can put out their normal trash container as well as two 35-gallon bags for free. there are still two sandbag drop-off sites ellis park near the tennis courts and the other is in the noelridge pool parking lot. if you can't drop off your sandbags, the city will collect them, starting monday, october 10th. in other news... the university of iowa released a crime alert this weekend for a sexual assault. university police say sometime overnight last friday, september 30th, a person was assaulted by an acquaintance at an east side dorm. this is the second such report on campus so far this year. the linn county sheriff's

investigating a fatal crash between a train and pick up truck. it happened around 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the intersection arabian road and the canadian national railroad tracks. that just south of alburnett. the sheriff's office says a 44-year-old man from marion was driving a ford pickup, towing a flatbed trailer, when he drove in front of the train. the truck caught on fire during the collision. the marion man died at the scene. they haven't released his name. no railway crew members were injured in the crash police in keokuk are looking into a shooting that left a woman dead. officers found 29 year old carissa rivers unresponsive shortly after midnight sunday. she was in an alley near 10th street and north 5th street. rivers died at the hospital. police have not identified a suspect in the shooting, but say the public is not in danger. just hours after being honored at saturday's cyclone football game, police arrested former running back troy davis on suspicion of public intoxication. iowa state
